By putting the dough in the refrigerator, it helps to make it less sticky…maybe my wife should put me in the refrigerator sometimes!
Ingredients:
- 125 ml shortening
- 125 ml butter
- 250 ml molasses
- 250 ml brown sugar
- 250 ml milk
- 2 eggs
- 1 l flour (roughly)
- 10 ml baking soda
- 10 ml grounded ginger powder
Method:
- Break the shortening with a fork and cream it
- Add brown sugar and mix well
- Combine the baking soda with the molasses and then add to the butter mixture
- Add milk, flour and ginger and mix until smooth and thick
- Place the dough in the refrigerator to cool for about one hour
- On a flat surface, dust with flour and roll the dough to about 0.5 cm thick
- Using a cookie cutter or a glass if you do not have any, cut the cookies and place on an un-greased cookie sheet
- Bake at 3500 F for 10 to 15 minutes on the top rack.
