I used to dislike macaroni and cheese before I tasted this recipe. I used to think that all macaroni and cheese tasted like Kraft Dinner! Gross!
Ingredients:
- 500 ml elbow pasta
- 50 ml butter
- 50 ml finely chopped onion
- 30 ml flour
- 2 ml salt
- 1 ml black pepper
- 500 ml milk
- 500 ml grated cheese
Method:
- Cook pasta and drain
- While the pasta is cooking, melt the butter in a medium pot
- Add onions and cook for 5 minutes
- Add flour, salt and pepper
- Add milk and stir until it starts boiling
- Let simmer until the sauce thicken
- Remove from heat and add 350 ml of cheese stirring until the cheese has melted
- In a large bowl, mix the pasta and the sauce
- Transfer the pasta to a large baking dish and cover with the remaining cheese
- Bake at 3500F for 30 minutes, until the cheese on top turns brown
