Macaroni & Cheese

I used to dislike macaroni and cheese before I tasted this recipe. I used to think that all macaroni and cheese tasted like Kraft Dinner! Gross!

Ingredients:

  • 500 ml elbow pasta
  • 50 ml butter
  • 50 ml finely chopped onion
  • 30 ml flour
  • 2 ml salt
  • 1 ml black pepper
  • 500 ml milk
  • 500 ml grated cheese

Method:

  • Cook pasta and drain
  • While the pasta is cooking, melt the butter in a medium pot
  • Add onions and cook for 5 minutes
  • Add flour, salt and pepper
  • Add milk and stir until it starts boiling
  • Let simmer until the sauce thicken
  • Remove from heat and add 350 ml of cheese stirring until the cheese has melted
  • In a large bowl, mix the pasta and the sauce
  • Transfer the pasta to a large baking dish and cover with the remaining cheese
  • Bake at 3500F for 30 minutes, until the cheese on top turns brown
